The most common chameleons in pet stores are Veiled and Jackson's. But if you ask a pet store employee and they are unable to tell you, it is probably best to go to a store that specializes in reptiles (which would be the better otion, anyway) or go to a breeder.

Ami, if you have researched enough information, you should have known that buying a chameleon in a pet store is a 1 big NO NO.
They often charge you ridiculous price and gave you all the wrong advice. I have helped too many people that hurting their own chameleon without realizing due to the advice of the pet store reptile specialist.
There is only a handful reptile store that actually know what they are talking about.
and big chain pet stores are not one of them.
The best way for you to get a chameleon is via reptile expo or via the breeder straight (such as chameleonsonly.com and flchams.com).
I have written a blog to help people in learning about proper care for chameleon.http://chamworld.blogspot.com
please read them
