What Species Of Chameleon Do Pet Stores Usually Sell?
I’m thinking of getting a chameleon, and I’m wondering what species are usually sold in pet stores, so I know which one to research. Does anyone know?
Before you ask– Yes, I pretty much know what i’m doing. I’m doing tons of research, and i’ve handled them before. My best friend owned three and I loved them. I know they require a lot of complicated care and stuff, and i’m prepared to put plenty of money and effort into this.

skip the pet shops for chameleons. 99% of the shops dont have a clue. buy breeder direct. some good speacies for beginers are panthers and veilds. her is a link to an awsome breeder who can set you up with EVERYTHING you will ever need for a chameleon who ships world wide http://www.screameleons.com/
Ami, if you have researched enough information, you should have known that buying a chameleon in a pet store is a 1 big NO NO.
They often charge you ridiculous price and gave you all the wrong advice. I have helped too many people that hurting their own chameleon without realizing due to the advice of the pet store reptile specialist.
There is only a handful reptile store that actually know what they are talking about.
and big chain pet stores are not one of them.
The best way for you to get a chameleon is via reptile expo or via the breeder straight (such as chameleonsonly.com and flchams.com).
I have written a blog to help people in learning about proper care for chameleon.http://chamworld.blogspot.com
please read them
The most common chameleons in pet stores are Veiled and Jackson’s. But if you ask a pet store employee and they are unable to tell you, it is probably best to go to a store that specializes in reptiles (which would be the better otion, anyway) or go to a breeder.
1. Panther cham
2.Jackson’s chameleon
3.Yemen or veiled
That is yousual chamelions!
From a pet store it will most likely be a yemen/veiled, jacksons or a panther cham
