What Is The Best Pet, Excluding Dogs And Cats, To Have?
I like pets with little or no odor, is clean, affectionate, and you don’t need much money to take care of it. I’d like a playful and longer living pet too. Which type of pet is best and why?

It’s hard to find a pet that meets all of those expectations. Hamsters and gerbils don’t have much odor and they don’t require expensive vet visits or a lot of fancy toys. They are nocternal so they’re not too active during the day and not the most affectionate pet. You can put them in a ball and let them roll around the floor or let them run through tubes and they will climb all over you but they won’t cuddle up in your lap and fall asleep. Also they only live about 2-3 years.
Guinea pigs are another option. They sometimes don’t smell too good, but if you clean the cage twice a week it’s okay. They also have a habbit of “going” when they’re scared or nervous no matter if they’re on your lap or in the cage. They also are very skiddish and get very scared if you make loud noises or sudden moves (just their natural survival instinct. They can be very friendly but will squeel a lot when they are hungry or want attention and it is very loud and annoying. They don’t cost too much, if they don’t get sick that is. I’ve heard different life spans for these guys, so you might want to do some research on that.
Rabbits are wonderful animals that I highly suggest. However, they do require a lot of fresh vegtables along with pellets and a lot of hay and getting them neutered and anual checkups can get expensive. They are very playful and will hop and jump all over the place if you give them enough room. They will jump on your bed and sleep next to you, but they don’t like to be held too much. They have a very good sense of humor and are very adorable to watch. They do require a lot of attention and it’s best if you let them run free around the house because they need lots of excersize. Also they chew absoulty everything, from the carpet to your clothes, baseboards, bascially anything they can get their teeth around. If taken care of properly, they can live quite a long time, sometimes as long as a cat or dog. The litter box can sometimes get quite smelly, but you just have to clean it at least once a week
Whatever type of pet you get, I’m sure you will be very happy with your choice. Just remember that all living things carry a responsibility and make sure you research about your animal before your decide what kind to get and be prepared to give it everything it needs.
Simple, whatever you want and are willing to learn to give the proper care.

Ferrets, but they tend to be a little stinky, even after thier anal glands are removed.
Instead of a dog or a cat is the most common. But if you have to say I think it would be a fish, hamster or some other kind of rat, and a snake. U won’t pay alot on a fish, a little bit more money for the hamster 4 all the things, and a snake depends on the type and the stuff cuz you have to buy snakes rats or wateve it else eats
I agree with Rae, Chincillas are the best. Their clean, soft, affectionate and live a long time for a rodent.
I have a bird and a monkey. they’re not too bad, but fish are the best way to go.
Guinea Pigs. They’re loving, they squeak, they don’t bite like hamsters. In fact, the food they need the most doesn’t cost very much, because you already have it in your refigerator! They need-absolutely-must-have vitamin C every day. So give them a piece of celery. I recomend two female guinea pigs. They don’t fight and don’t mate. I also recomend a plastic kiddie pool (nbo water of course) to keep them in. Good luck!

A Gold fish. We have one here ,and my child plays with it, taught it to eat from her fingers, she chases it around in the aquarium.. he comes back for more, nibbling at her hand.. it’s cute.
A rat! Contrary to popular belief rats are VERY clean animals. As long as you keep their cage clean they shouldn’t smell. They are also a very affectionate, interactive pet. They can be trained to do tricks, come when called and they usually do not go to the bathroom outside of their cage. My rats had free run of the house when I was home. They are also a very economical pet. They don’t cost much to feed
Guinea pig, definitely. They are easy to maintain, VERY affectionate and cuddly,odourless, and REALLY CUTE! their food is cheap, and all you need to get started is a cage, starter food, a bowl and a bottle.. VOILA(oh and of course the guinea pig). Also, they come in different breeds(curly, long, long and curly, short, no hair at all, smooth, half long half short, scruffy.)and varieties(brown, ginger, black, white, cream, lilac((though actually is more of a browny-tan)),and chocolate, plus many combinations of these colours).

Fish…easy to keep, colorful, low maintenance, cheap to feed, and if you maintain the tank well, can live a long time.
hamster because their easy to take care of all you do is clean its cage once a week i have a hamster and she is really nice to and their really cheap
I agree with Lindsay. If you get a pair of rats you will totally fall in love. They are the sweest pets ever. They love to be held and love to sit on your shoulders. I clean their cage once a week and they never smell. They live 2 to 3 years..if they are happy and taken care of well they can live a little longer. They are very social animals so it’s best to get a pair instead of just one. So when you aren’t playing with it they don’t get lonely.
chinchillas, they don’t smell, and they actually like to shower in their dust unlike other animals that they don’t like to be cleaned. if you’ve had them since they are little then they will be more affectionate and hang around you more. chinchillas live a little longer than ten years and the food comes pretty cheap considering it’s timothy hay and it’s found everywhere.
