What Is A Good Pet To Get 4 Small Children?
The youngest child is 2 years old, then 3, 4, and 5 year old.
I want to get them a pet that is safe, but so the oldest can learn responsibility and have a pet to grow up with for a while.

I think you should get a guinea pig. They live the longest out of the small animals, unless you want a ferret or a rabbit or something…
I was going to suggest gerbils because I love them so much and they are great little critters, but not if you have a 2 3 4 and 5 year old…gerbils are jumpy and are not easily held.
Now that I think about it…you should get a cat. Start out with a kitten so the kitten is growing up with the children. If you are worried about the claws and stuff, find a declawed kitten. I would suggest a puppy or a dog but they are a little rambunctious for some children…
I would either say a cat or a guinea pig.
Hey!, enseñame ingles!
I think a “chihuahua dog” is a very good option. They are beautiful and small.
i would have to say a pet hamster or rat. they are easy for you to take care of cuz you know they cabt do it so get whats easy for you rat (which i love) hamster, cats are easy to take care of dogs alil more work gunea pigs are fun also something small i would think
What do your children want? Have them make a list of what they want, and sit down with them explaining how much work and care it takes to keep the kind of animal(s) they want.
And make sure you are ready for the commitment. In 10 years, if you still have said animal, and your kids are busy with their teenage lives, are you willing to step in and take care of it?
I suggest starting with something very small and easy, and upgrading after a few months/years. Fish are very easy to take care of, and you will not have to worry about bites and scratches, nor it getting loose and or running away.
maybe a rabbit or guinea pig. or if you have room, a dog or a cat?
I suggest getting a caged animal because ALL children will say they’re going to take care of the pet but usually the parent(s) take care of the animal. So just get what you want to take care of or I suppose a small caged animal. Either way be ready to accept the fact that the animal responsibility will become your responsiblity. Also remember most caged animals don’t live near as long as dogs or cats. Good luck
i think u should get the kids a rabbit because they are nice and not mean.they are also playful
a rabbit or a puppy might be a good pet for smallchildren
shih tzus are great for little children- they are small dogs and very playful. they are extremely lovable and cute. they’re hair can be cut short so its manageable. shih tzus are the nicest dogs, they love to be cuddly and their called lap dogs for a reason…they love to just sit on ur laps. theyre easy to train, but its hard to not step on its tail because theyre so hairy. hope i helped =]
When I was five I got my first bird, & accidently killed it by polishing the toe nails, something I was watching on tv that gave me the idea. All I can say is parakeets are good to start with,& when they get used to you they are fun. the next one I got was in 4rth grade she learned my name,Hi & loved to fly on my shoulder or head & sit she even danced. She lived til sophmore year.
I think see what they want as a group. and also a 5 year old can not have the full responsibility.(I’m sure ya know that though)=).
bunnys can be fun they can be house broken. but a 2-3yr might give it a bit of a tight hug. they only live 8 years i think.
hamsters are squishable. and hard to handle…if its not already tame.
a dog or a cat might be a better choice. if you have room and can train a dog. if not cats are a bit easier…right now there are always ‘teenaged’ kittens from spring left over.
and adopt…there is a great lesson in adopting for the 4 and 5 yrs!!! they might not get it right now but in the next few they will
petfinder.com ….they also have small and furry!
