I would like to start a pet/animal rescue for rodents and other small animals that are used for food and experimentation. Where do I begin?

Hello, What is your mission? Do you want to save the rodents from Experimentation? Save them from being eaten? When you start a rescue, you need to be sure of what your mission is. Then focus on that.
That is the first step.
I am the founder of the National Reptile Foundation.
It started in my closet with 2 iguanas.
now I have placed 220 reptiles into new homes, it has been a few years since I started but it all takes time, and energy, and money to do a rescue.
I have to admit, SOME reptiles do eat rodents, so I am in need of breeding rats for food. However I do not over breed them, and I only have enough rats to serve the needs of the reptiles that DO eat them, but My specialty is Iguanas, because they only eat veggies. My mission was to find homes for all the homeless reptiles. Educateion for the people who want to adopt them, and bridge the gap between humans and reptiles.
In the whole of the world…. I am but just a drop.
it was also my mission to go National ~ Thus the National Reptile Foudnation.
I have been working on uniting reptile rescues across America, to better serve the homeless reptiles.
I also have been an adoption coordinator since 1988, for other animals, with a local humane society.
not currently employed there, as I am very busy with the reptiles. The first thing you will notice is you can not save them ALL. no matter how hard you try.
However 1 person makes a difference! that IS for sure.
