How Do You Go About Finding A Pet Broker?
I have plenty of room around my new home in the country to raise dogs. I need to find a pet broker to tell me what kinds of dogs people want and be able to depend on the broker to buy them when they are ready. I live in the Fort Smith, Arkansas area.

This sounds more like a puppy mill. Shame Shame Shame.
Reputable breeders don’t need ‘pet brokers’. They sell to pre-approved homes and only breed to improve the line of the breed. Everyone else is unethical, disreputable, immoral, and irresponsible. With 3-6 million animals going into shelters each year and only half coming out alive, why not do somthing good with your land rather than contribute to that?? Run a foster home for dogs who need homes rather than contribute to euthanasia and poor genetics. You could then get a tax write off for it.
I’ve linked to the AKC website on what makes a reputable breeder – and I don’t see a puppy broker involved in their recommendations.
Puppymills and dog brokers should be illegal. It will all come back to you in the end.
Boy what balls to come on here and ask such a question. Just aching for people to slam you it seems.
So what if you have plenty of room, that doesn’t mean you have to run out and buy a lot of poorly bred dogs that come from Puppy Mills, and start breeding even poorer dogs from those poor dogs, and start your own puppy mill.
Why don’t you raise chickens or something like that and leave the poor dogs alone!
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
WHAT?? Are you REALLY that un-ethical & irresponsible & lazy & GREEDY???
Wow, a budding puppyfactory. JUST what NOBODY WANTS or NEEDS!
You are an a**!! Don’t use this venue to become a puppy mill. Do that somewhere else.
Don’t count on making a fortune breeding dogs. Those that do are probably shady. If you want to breed dogs because you love them and feel you can contribute towards the strength of the breed, then fine. Do your own research and go ahead.
If however you think you can breed dogs and add to your income I beg you to consider all the millions of dogs being killed each year in animal controls throughout the nation. In my area alone 20,000 are killed each year because there are not enough homes for them.
Breeding 2 quality dogs, and caring for them and their progeny properly should cost several thousand dollars the first time. This includes genetic testing and specialized physicals to attempt to rule out inherited defects, high quality food, vaccinations and medical treatments, capital outlay for whelping boxes, heat lamps, emergency supplies and all the rest.
Now I assume you are thinking of doing this on a reasonably large scale, so that means professional kennels. My shelter has been quoted $5,000 per dog to build brand new state of the art kennels. That might be a little high for the average breeder. Even if you guess half that, its $2500 per dog.
And in addition to this there is the overwhelming heartbreak of losing an entire litter to some calamity you haven’t even begun to consider. Or better yet, losing the mother and having to quit your job to bottle feed puppies around the clock for weeks.
If you are still thinking you can make money on raising dogs, read the link below. I assure you they are not exaggerating.
Truly, the ONLY reason to breed dogs is for the love of the breed, since you won’t make money. Since you seem to be interested only in breeding of the “kinds of dogs people want” and you don’t care who will end up with your pups since you’ll be unloading them like manufactured goods through a broker, my suspicion is you are looking for a quick buck. I suggest you look elsewhere. You won’t find it in dogs.
