Making him feel comfortable in the dog house is very important. Dogs have the natural instinct to have a den (your dog house). The den should be a safe and secure spot. Using toys and food is good. Praising him when he goes in the dog house is also very important. Make sure the dog house is big enough that your dog can fit comfortably with his food/water, but not too much excess space.

It is a hard thing to teach the dog. Some dogs won't eat where they sleep and don't want to go to the bathroom where they sleep. Is the dog used to being indoors? You say kennel and to me that implies having a fenced in area too. Is this the case? If not, I would put a pen around the dog house with a gate that can lock and high enough to where the dog can't climb out. Place a tarp or make a roof over the grassy part. If the dog still won't eat.....you definitely will have to figure out where the dog will eat so it doesn't starve. Can the dog come inside to eat? Instead of regular food, but only a little while, try luring the dog with a treat or possibly you could even go into the dog house to just entice the dog in. Let the dog know it's a safe place for you too! Put toys in there and a favorite "blankie" and give the dog attention each time the dog has to go to the kennel or dog house. Many dogs just don't like being alone no matter where you put them. Ask the pet store for ideas and have a nice warm bed in there that hopefully won't be chewed up , and ask your vet for more suggestions. Good luck.

well y don't u let him sleep in the house. and you should put some doggy toys in there and make it really cozy and try to have it close to the house as possible because dogs like to be with their family.

You might have a dog that honestly needs companionship and knows that oif they retreat to their kennel they are kissing that goodbye. Maybe you could crate them inside and try that? We use a crate and did word association by saying "night night" every time we put him in there. Now if we say "night night" he just goes in willingly.

We had the same problem, 2 years later she still will sit in the rain if tied up rather than go in her house, we tried everything..treats, blankets, toys, my son even crawled in there with her. Our last resort is to try to build a bigger house. good luck

Get a new dog! lol No really - I was just wondering who is the dog and who is the master? U must B firm. The old rolled up newspaper 2 the nose (they have sensitive noses) and repeating the command while leading him by his collar 2 the kennel - making sure 2 get him in and then praise him with a treat each time should do the trick. Dogs R like kids they will test U. But there is one thing that may hinder him - he could B apprehensive or scared of confined spaces. Is the kennel large enough so that he doesn't feel claustrophobic. Is it an open chain link type of dog run kennel or enclosed. Also have U had him since he was a pup and U know whether or not he was confined B4. If all else fails try throwing in a cat! Good Luck.
